Uncover the history of Bielsko-Biała with the interactive city-based game Frog Weaves!

Take part in the city-based game Frog Weaves and learn about Bielsko-Biała. Solve puzzles, explore the city and, by doing so, you will also be supporting such places as the Municipal Shelter for Homeless Animals, the Children’s Hospital and the Care Home for Retired Teachers. Go it alone or play in a team, earn badges and have an interesting time.

Vertical Slice Foundation and Punkt 11 invite you to take part in the interactive city-based game Frog Weaves, the object of which is to learn about Bielsko-Biała, both about its fascinating history and its present. The game, based on an original story conceived by young people, combines elements of adventure, competition and education, encouraging participants to physically explore the city, solve puzzles and earn points. It is also an opportunity to support Bielsko-Biała in its battle for the title of European Capital of Culture 2029!

In the first season of the game, premiering on 17 September, players will meet Płażej, an anthropomorphic frog who sets off on a journey to Bielsko-Biała to discover the secrets of his grandfather's past. As he comes across more pages of his grandpa’s diary, Płażej becomes increasingly fascinated with the city and players join him in wandering the streets of Bielsko-Biała and visiting its most interesting spots. Participants are faced with numerous puzzles, clues hidden in urban spaces and the chance to earn special badges for completing some of the more difficult tasks.

An app will soon be available (on 17 September) to all those interested in taking part, its main objective being to encourage young people, as well as adults, to actively explore the city in an interesting way. Players will not only be able to compete individually but will also be able to join teams representing organisations supporting the local community. In other words, integration and social activation in one.

At the end of the first season the winning team will be rewarded with the privilege of passing on financial support to a chosen organisation: the Municipal Shelter for Homeless Animals, the Children’s Hospital or the Care Home for Retired Teachers. All players will have enjoyed earning badges and being given the satisfaction of discovering unknown stories about their city.

Frog Weaves is a game arising from board game design workshops organised by Punkt 11 in cooperation with the Vertical Slice Foundation. The workshops were attended by almost 50 youngsters who worked in teams creating nine playable game prototypes inspired by the City of Weaves, the best ideas of which served as the foundation for the web app Frog Weaves.
