Weaving wellbeing - the final bidbook of the City of Weaves
We invite you to weave wellbeing and our future together!
We have submitted the final version of the bidbook to the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in Warsaw. This is a very important step on Bielsko-Biała's road to the title of European Capital of Culture 2029. The bidbook is nothing more than a project book, an official competition bid for the city that wants to win the ECOC 2029.
It is no coincidence that our bidbook has a linen cover; it is a nod to the textile traditions of our city. The calming green present refers to the leaves of the beech tree, the most common species in our forests. Most important, however, is the content, which opens with the title ‘Weaving wellbeing”. It is a seamless transition from the history of our city to its future. Building our collective wellbeing is the result we want to achieve. Individual and social, with care for our surroundings. It is culture in its broadest sense that will help us do this, because everything connected with the ECOC 2029 will be a catalyst for further positive changes in Bielsko-Biała. And in many areas related to the daily lives of the inhabitants.
The final version of the bidbook was taken care of by 12 people, but more than 300 were involved in its preparation! They were partners from Poland and Europe, cultural institutions, artists, young people, the elderly, activists, representatives of business, NGOs, academia and schools. Thanks to hard work, discussions, heated deliberations and brainstorming, we have included in 100 pages an action and development programme for the city for the coming years and the year of the title in 2029. Everything is richly illustrated with photographs.
We believe that handing over the bidbook is not the end, but the beginning. A very important element is co-creation - the ECOC is an initiative in which all of Bielsko-Biała's citizens can get involved, and we invite you to do so. After all, it is about weaving our common, better future. Now we are waiting for the special evaluation committee to visit Bielsko-Biała, after which we will give a presentation in Warsaw to complement our bidbook, and then we are just waiting for the verdict.
